More details in the legal notice.
Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, on servers in Germany. When you visit a page, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser and operating system. This keeps the website secure and reliable. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Request forms
When you submit a form, we process your details (name, work email, company, country, industry and what you tell us about your data or your data needs) to answer your request and to prepare a possible contract. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and, beyond that, our legitimate interest in handling requests under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

To prevent abuse, we keep your IP address in the server's memory for at most 10 minutes to limit the number of requests per connection (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep requests until they are fully handled, unless legal retention periods apply.
Email delivery
Form requests reach our team as internal email notifications. We send them through Mailgun (Mailgun Technologies, Inc., 112 E Pecan St #1135, San Antonio, TX 78205, USA) with processing in its EU region. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.
Google Analytics
If you consent to the “Statistics” category, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) to measure visits and page views and improve the website. Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, _ga_<ID>) and processes usage data such as pages viewed, time on page, device, browser and approximate location. Advertising features are switched off. Without your consent, Google Analytics is not loaded.

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) of the German TDDDG. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can withdraw your consent at any time under “Cookie settings” in the footer; the Analytics cookies are then deleted.
Videos on YouTube
Our explainer videos are hosted on YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). When a page loads, we show only our own preview image; YouTube is not loaded. Only when you allow external media and start a video is the player loaded in privacy enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Data such as your IP address is then sent to Google, and Google may use cookies or similar technologies. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG. You can withdraw your consent at any time under “Cookie settings” in the footer.
WhatsApp
The WhatsApp button is a plain link. Only when you click it does WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland) open with a prepared message to us. No data is sent to WhatsApp before that. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to your use of WhatsApp.
Cookies, consent and fonts
Only Google Analytics and YouTube set cookies, and only with your consent. We store your choice from the cookie banner in your browser's local storage (localStorage) so we do not ask again on every visit. This is strictly necessary (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). Fonts are served from our own server, not from Google.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). To exercise these rights, write to contact@whalelink.net. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
